Professor Hui Yuan and Dr Xin Lu are organising the 2nd Workshop on 3D Point Cloud Processing, Analysis, Compression, and Communication, held in conjunction with IEEE ICME 2026 (submission deadline 25th March 2026).

IEEE ICME has been a flagship multimedia conference sponsored by four IEEE societies since 2000. ICME serves as a premier forum to promote the exchange of the latest advances in multimedia technologies, systems and applications, from both the research and development perspectives.
About the Workshop
ICME workshops aim to explore emerging research topics, bridge advances in multimedia research with other disciplines, and trigger live discussions among researchers and practitioners. Our workshop will focus on one of the most prominent forms of immersive media: 3D point clouds. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:
- Point cloud compression, including traditional hybrid coding frameworks as well as end-to-end learning-based methods.
- Point cloud processing, including quality enhancement, denoising, sampling, and related techniques based on modern signal processing theory and deep neural networks.
- Point cloud analysis, including quality assessment, visual tracking, object detection, semantic segmentation, and recognition.
- High-reliability, low-delay transmission of 3D point clouds.
- 3D Gaussian splatting and related techniques, including methods that treat 3D Gaussians as multi-dimensional point-cloud representations for rendering, reconstruction, or compression.
